We love comfrey! It’s such an important garden, permaculture, ecological and medicinal herb. Each order will recieve one free comfrey root start. If you’d like more, there are root bundles for sale! All you need to do is bury the root start 3-4” underground, and gently mulch. Excellent for between and around fruit trees. Easy to divide and propagate once established.

Latin Name: Symphytum officinale. Family: Boraginaceae (Borage)

USDA hardiness zone: 4

Growth habit: Spreading large herb

Mature size: 1 ft.

Native range: Eurasia

Preferred habitat: Garden soil, full sun

Pollinators: Bees

Edible parts: Medicinal leaves and Flowers (in moderation)

Uses and functions: Medicinal, Nutrient accumulator
